“Establishing lasting peace is the work of education." -Maria Montessori
It is with great pleasure (and an enormous amount of pride in the students on the Literary Magazine staff) that we announce the publication of the very first issue of the Peace Autumn Print! Congratulations students!! We have offered printed version of the magazine to Peace families, but we are also making digital versions available to any art and literature lovers who may be out there reading! (See below.)
All of the artwork (written or pictorial) in the magazine is student created (with the exception of one photo by staff). We have some amazingly talented writers and artists at Peace Montessori, thanks in large part to the Montessori philosophy that all academic, cultural, and artistic work are connected; and to the opportunities for and encouragement of artistic expression that our students are given by their teachers.
The selection of work to be included from all the submissions, as well as the magazine design and layout were all done entirely by eight upper and lower elementary students on the literary magazine staff. The students on the magazine staff spent some time studying various college literary magazines before getting down to the business of looking at their own submissions and organizing the final layout of the magazine. I hope you will agree with me that the result is quite impressive!
For an elementary school to have a literary magazine is somewhat unusual, but for an elementary school to have a literary magazine of this caliber is almost unheard of! We are so proud of our writers, our artists, and ALL of our students for the hard work and enthusiasm they show in every aspect of their lives here at Peace Montessori!
We are pleased to offer the Peace Autumn Print in both .pdf and eBook format for FREE, available below. We hope you enjoy the wonderful work of the Peace Montessori students as much as we have!
(Note: This is an iBook format, you must have the iBook app on your iPad, iPhone, or iTouch to download this version.)
